From the day Kenny was born, he had a contagious laugh and a special soul that we knew would work wonders. He had a true gift of connecting with people and nature. While his life was cut short in time, it was rich in many other ways. In 2012, after returning home from one of his many travel adventures, he began his career in education in San Diego, CA. He quickly became a very loved teacher and colleague. He was 3 months shy of finishing his Masters degree when he started suffering from daily headaches and confusion. After numerous scans and surgery, he was diagnosed with GBM; also known as the deadliest form of brain cancer. He was given 12-18 months to live and began the fight of his life. Kenny eventually passed away March 22, 2014 with his family and close friends by his side. Several months prior, he sat down and recorded a video to recount the life that he loved and poured his gratitude out to those he was leaving behind. It also became an inspiration for his family. He had hoped his life would someday mean something to others, and expressed a wish for us to continue to pay forward all the goodness he always felt for life, nature, and the world that he loved to explore. He often talked about just wanting to make people feel good. With this, his family began this non-profit in his name to carry out his wish and grant some remarkable students scholarships each year.
